Title: Music Teacher
Company: Greg Allen Method
Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States
Gregory Allen, Music Teacher at Greg Allen Method, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music performance and instruction.
Born into a musical family led by his father Red, Mr. Allen was a pat of one of most famed bluegrass groups in the United States in the 20th Century, touring the country for three decades with Red as well as his brothers, Ronnie, Neal, and Harley. The Allen family’s music was recorded on the famed country labels Folkways, Rounder, King and Lemco.
In later years, Mr. Allen became a sought-after teacher of musicians who are seeking proficiency in banjo. Still considering himself to be a banjo student, he has said that he is “constantly learning something new nearly every day” about the instrument. He founded the Greg Allen Method in 2005, in which he has prospered in instructing musicians in banjo, guitar and mandolin.
Mr. Allen attributes his success to his determination and his passion for music. He became involved in his profession because he remembers the tingling sensation that he felt in his chest as he happened to love the banjo and inspired by the music of his family, particularly his father, he decided to teach himself how to play musical instruments which led him to become a musician and eventually tour with his family and perform in different places to packed houses full of people eager to hear bluegrass music.
Being able to travel and perform to different places as a musician as well as having wonderful fans was Mr. Allen’s career highlight. In the coming years, he is hoping to record another album and hopes to publish a book about his life as well as his family’s life as musicians.
