Theresa Marie Goeckner, MA, ABD, Teacher at Desert Pines High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in technology instruction and curriculum development.
Since 2006, Ms. Goeckner has provided superior education as a teacher for grades nine to 12 in business computer, webpage design, computer science and video production with Desert Pines High School in Las Vegas. Previously, she had excelled as an educational strategist with Valley High School, a computer software teacher with Northwest Career and Technical Academy and a digital technology teacher with parochial schools for over a decade.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Science in 1985 in radio, television and film from California State University-Long Beach, Ms. Goeckner later continued her education with a Master of Science in education technology in 1997 from Azusa Pacific University in California. In 2006, she earned a second Master of Science in curriculum and education in a multicultural context from Azusa Pacific. Ms. Goeckner took coursework toward a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from 2012 to 2015 with Capella University.
Ms. Goeckner attributes her success to her parents because she learned her work ethic and love of teaching from them. Her parents bought her and her brother toys that stimulated their imagination. Ms. Goeckner’s father was a fire sprinkler installer and she got the chance to go with him to different places where he worked, such as Paramount Studios and MGM. Her fascination with photography, storytelling and moving pictures grew from there and evolved to video and video production.
In the near future, Ms. Goeckner would like to introduce robotics into her classes for video production and editing. When she retires from teaching regularly, she would like to do some consulting to maximize her expertise.
