Pamela Day, Music Teacher at Wintergreen Intermediate School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music instruction and performance.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Music Education from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, Ms. Day continued her education with a Master of Music in 2008 from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She has provided superior education as a music teacher with Richlands Elementary School from 2008 to 2021 and with Wintergreen Immediate School since 2021, where she instructs 3rd through 5th grade students.
In addition to teaching, Ms. Day is an exemplary musician and has performed as a clarinetist with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, North Carolina Symphony and Greenville Choral Society. Her professional memberships include the North Carolina Music Educators Association. Ms. Day has captured the Arts Teacher of the Year award in 2017 as well as Elementary Music Educator of the Year in North Carolina in 2021.
Ms. Day attributes her success to the mentorship she received throughout her career. Mrs. Beth Offers was her mentor she first started teaching. Russell Mike and Matt Minick were also great influence in her career. Pam Scott, on the other hand, was the one who taught her the importance of building relationships with her students. Ms. Day became involved in her profession because she has always been interested in music. Not knowing what to do with music, she went to school thinking she was going to teach upper grades in high school bands, but her true fulfillment came when she witnessed her students learning to appreciate music.
In coming years, Ms. Day hopes to be teaching in the same location as well as presenting at state clinics to give herself time and experience to help motivate new teachers entering the field, as well as to help them ignite their passion and excitement for teaching and to learn some tips and tricks that may help them be more successful.
