Since 2004, Ms. Pilarcik has provided superior education as a teacher with South Western High School in Hanover, Pennsylvnia, where she has chaired the mathematics department since 2016, teaching junior and senior mathematics and general statistics. In addition, she has been awarded Coach of the Year for her stellar effort in coaching the school softball team.
Ms. Pilarcik attributes her success to her desire to always exceed, as well as excelling as an analytical problem solver, and thinker. She has always believed that mathematics is a natural piece for her and she considers herself both a leader and a doer. Her career highlight has been redesigning South Western’s academic statistics course in which students designed games and worked on theoretical probability, expected value during the game, and collected data. Her goal in the coming years is to teach applied mathematics, the application of mathematical methods by different fields such as physics, engineering, medicine, biology, finance, business, computer science and industry.
