Robert James Bowen, PhD, Lecturer at Rochester Institute of Technology, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in psychology instruction.
Dr. Bowen initially obtained a master’s degree in psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) Brockport and continued his education with a Doctor of Philosophy in developmental and child psychology from the University of Rochester in 1987. Since 1981, he has excelled as a lecturer with the psychology department with the Rochester Institute of Technology. Additionally, Dr. Bowen has served as an adjunct instructor in psychology with Monroe Community College and Nazareth College, Rochester. Additionally, he provided superior education as an adjunct faculty member with SUNY Brockport from 1988 to 2009 and has worked for the Rochester Institute of Technology in the National Technical Institute for the Deaf.
In 1979, Dr. Bowen co-authored “Imaginary Audience Behavior in Children and Adolescence,” in the American Psychological Association Journal. In addition, he co-authored a 10-episode TV screenplay proposal about the NY 137th regiment from Binghamton, New York during the Civil War.
Dr. Bowen took a course that got him interested in psychology during his senior year in high school. He decided to make psychology a career path and started at Rochester Institute of Technology in the National Technical Institute for the Deaf Department. He transferred to the Office of Institutional Research at RIT and worked there for 24 years, becoming an adjunct instructor there in the mid-1980s and a full-time faculty member in the Psychology Department at RIT in 2009 until the present where he has garnered very high ratings from students. Counting his family as his most notable achievement, Dr. Bowen is hoping for continued success with RIT in the near future.
