Dr. David M. Butimore, Sr., Pastor at Highlands Missionary Baptist Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in church administration.
Dr. Butimore initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California and followed with a Bachelor of Arts of Applied Ministries from the International Bible Institute Seminary. He continued his education with a Doctor of Theology from the California Missionary Baptist Seminary in Bellflower. He was ordained by Olive Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Oroville, California in 1975.
For more than 40 years, Dr. Butimore has provided inspirational spiritual leadership as pastor of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Stockton, Valley Missionary Baptist Church of Reseda, Landmark Missionary Baptist Church of Freedom, First Missionary Baptist Church of Lomita and Trinity Missionary Baptist Church of Bremerton, Washington, as well as president of the Fresno Missionary Baptist Seminary. Since 2001, he has been a pastor and seminary professor of the Highlands Missionary Baptist Church in Fresno.
Keenly interested in church affairs, Dr. Butimore has served the American Baptist Association as vice president and later president, with the Association’s History and Archives Committee, as a parliamentarian, assistant parliamentarian, and music director.
Dr. Butimore became involved in his profession because he knew in his heart that he had a special calling from God and back on October 5, 1971, he finally surrendered to the call. While he is looking to continue teaching seminary instructions in an online format, he also expects to enjoy a well-deserved retirement in the coming years while still active in seminary teaching and writing.
