Margaret Ann Gilmore, Principal at Allendale County School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education administration.

After earning Master of Science in special and elementary education, Dr. Gilmore continued her education with a Doctor of Philosophy in education leadership and policy studies from the University of Memphis in 2014. She has excelled as superintendent of the Allendale County School District since 2017.

To honor her stewardship, Dr. Gilmore was honored as the Superintendent of the Year for 2021 by the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association, which she cites as her career-best achievement. In addition, she has accepted multiple Teacher of the Year Awards as well as a Leadership Scholars Award from the University of Memphis. Additionally, Dr. Gilmore has been presented with a Distinguished Worldwide Humanitarian Award and inducted among in Top Professionals of the Year by Marquis Who’s Who.

Dr. Gilmore attributes her success to her deep faith and the support of her husband and parents. She was called to the educational profession at a young age, inspired by her third grade teacher, Ms. Clay, who she remembers as an “incredible teacher.” When she was in seventh grade, the principal at their school, Samuel Johnson, appointed her as his honorary assistant principal. Dr. Gilmore wrote all of his memos during class and studied at home during weekends. He told her that someday, she would be a superintendent. In coming years, Dr. Gilmore’s ultimate goal is to become the state superintendent of education or the superintendent of education for the entire nation.
