Dr. Glen E. Dappen, Professor Emeritus at Nebraska Wesleyan University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in biology and anatomy education.
After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Sioux Falls College, now the University of Sioux Falls, in South Dakota in 1960, Dr. Dappen followed with a Master of Science in zoology in 1965 and a Doctor of Philosophy in zoology and parasitology in 1971 from University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He has provided superior education for more than four decades in the disciplines of biology and anatomy.
Dr. Dappen excelled as an associate and assistant professor of biology and chairman of the biology department from 1969 to 1979 and from 1981 to 2003 at Nebraska Wesleyan University, Lincoln. In addition, he served as adjunct assistant professor in anatomy with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Medical Center from 1981 to 1982. Serving as a pre-medical student advisor, he considers it a career highlight that he has helped over 400 students at Nebraska Wesleyan attain careers in medicine.
Currently the owner of Nema-Test, a company that provides information on plant parasitic nematodes, Dr. Dappen has been honored with an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, Marquis Top Educator 2020 and inclusion in Marquis Industry Leaders in 2021. He attributes his success to his parents and all his professors in graduate school, especially Drs. Harold Manter and Brent Nichol.
