Sara Katherine Parker, ECSE, Early Childhood Special Educator at Denver Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in bilingual early education.
Since 2012, Ms. Parker has prospered as a bilingual early childhood special educator with the Denver Public Schools. Her responsibilities include the development of individualized education programs for preschool-aged students, bilingual screening and evaluation of young children, collaborating with and coaching of classroom teachers and collaboration with student support team members. Taking advantage of her proficiency in Spanish, Ms. Parker also provided excellent education in the Denver Public Schools as a bilingual early education and kindergarten teacher from 1997 to 2012.
After initially obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology, Ms. Parker continued her education with a Master of Arts in early childhood special education from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2006. While growing up in a family of teachers, she had heard about the struggles of being a teacher, so she wasn’t sure if her love for children would translate to being a good teacher. But after earning her bachelor’s in anthropology, she realized it was her true calling. Today, Ms. Parker’s work brings her a great deal of joy and she loves working with young children, having family connections, and seeing the students grow. While looking forward to retirement in the coming years, she would like to continue doing small projects related to child sciences and foreign languages.
