Mari Chinn, Department Head at the Department of Biosystems Engineering at Oklahoma State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in biosystems education.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in 1998, a Master of Science in 2000 and a Doctor of Philosophy in biosystems engineering in 2003 from the University of Kentucky, Lexington, Dr. Chinn thereupon prospered as a professor of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, from 2003 to 2020, establishing a well-recognized research program in the development of integrated biomass production and conversion systems for biofuels and bioproducts.

With NC State, Dr. Chinn led and collaborated on several multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional projects, supported an active team of research associates, post-doctoral scholars, graduate students, and undergraduate researchers and provided instruction for undergraduate and graduate education and through academic, research, and student organization advising have mentored students on the importance of professional development, leadership, teamwork and commitment to civic service.

In early 2021, Dr. Chinn was named the new department head at the Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering department at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater. She is looking forward to forging new relationships and collaborations with OSU’s Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology and the broader OSU community. Ms. Chinn considers her most notable achievement being the first person to advance to the rank of full professor in the area of biosystems and agricultural engineering.
