Earla Sue Edris, M.Ed.BLD, Special Education Teacher at BCG Learning Specialists, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in special education.
Ms. Edris recalls she always had connections to education, as her mother’s best friend was a special education teacher and she herself enjoyed helping her fellow classmates with disabilities. Backed by a bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College, she took on her first professional role as an educator at the International Center of Research Development in Dry Area in 1989, remaining until 1993. She went on to teach special education in Fulton County, Georgia from 2001 to 2014, during which time she also achieved a master’s degree in behavior learning disabilities from Georgia State University in 2004. Ms. Edris then spent one year with Johnson Ferry Christian Academy as a high school science teacher.
Today, Ms. Edris excels as a special education teacher with BCG Learning Specialists, a role she commenced in 2006. Alongside her primary role, she is also active in her community with a local church community charity and with Pi Lambda Theta, considering her induction into the prestigious national honor society for educators to be a proud moment of her life. Ms. Edris attributes her vast professional success to believing in her students, as she knows they are all capable of learning, just in different ways. Looking ahead, she hopes to continue teaching students of all needs, as well as grow as an educator. In her spare time, she enjoys quilting.
