Frederick Lippman, Chancellor at Nova Southeastern University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in healthcare education administration.
Since 2004, Mr. Lippman has excelled as Chancellor of the Health Professions Division (HPD) with Nova Southeastern University, a private research university in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Mr. Lippman’s purview extends to six colleges teaching osteopathic medicine, allied health and nursing, pharmacy, dental medicine, optometry and medicine sciences. Under his stewardship, the HPD has developed a significant research laboratory and focused on several new healthcare research initiatives. In addition, he has helped to expand insurance benefits for HPD employees, increase tuition waivers for students and boosted wellness programs.
Mr. Lippman was born in Brooklyn and earned a pharmacy degree from Columbia University. He moved to southern Florida and owned a private pharmacy in Broward County from 1964 to 1978, when he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives from 1978, serving in that capacity for 20 years. While in office he was instrumental in the founding of the Florida Area Health Education Centers Network, which assists in sending health care professionals to underserved areas, as well as initiating mandatory seat belt use for children. His honors during his tenure include the D.I. Rainey Legislator of the Year Award, the Hubert H. Humphrey Award from the American Pharmaceutical Association, the American Trauma Society’s Distinguished Service Award and the Florida Pediatrics Society’s Samuel P. Bell III Outstanding Child Advocate Award.
Mr. Lippman attributes his success to his father, mother, grandfather as his life mentors, his two brothers who were also pharmacists and educators, as well as the love and encouragement of his second wife Bonnie. He maintains active affiliations with the Florida Research Consortium, the Florida Pharmacy Association, the American Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, the American Dental Association, the American Pharmaceutical Association, Florida Tax Watch and the Broward Center of Performing Arts.
