Amiee E. Mellon, PhD, interim dean at the University of Montevallo’s Stephens College of Business, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in marketing and business education.
Dr. Mellon is interim dean and department chair of the Stephens College of Business at the University of Montevallo, where she has been a member of faculty since 2014. Beginning as an assistant professor, Dr. Mellon was named department chair in 2019 and interim dean in 2021, and hopes to continue to work with the school in an administrative role in the coming years. Her focus as dean is to expand student and community engagement with the University through a holistic approach to education, and she emphasizes the importance of offering nontraditional and continuing education opportunities in the form of workshops, summer programs, and certificate courses.
Before entering the field of education, Dr. Mellon spent nearly a decade as a marketing account executive and freelance marketer. A graduate of the University of Central Arkansas, Dr. Mellon earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing in 2003 and completed her Master of Business Administration the following year. She began teaching in 2010 as an adjunct professor at the Arts Institute of Virginia Beach and Old Dominion University, where she was voted 2012 Adjunct Faculty of the Year. In 2015, Dr. Mellon was awarded her Doctor of Philosophy in marketing by the Strome College of Business at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Mellon has published numerous articles and manuscripts and is a frequent speaker at marketing-industry conferences and seminars. Since 2017, she has been a member of the Board of Directors of Shelby Emergency Assistance, where she has held a variety of leadership roles, including election as president and fundraising chair in 2021. Dr. Mellon has been named Chi Omega Sorority’s Favorite Professor in 2015 and 2019, and donates her time to assist several student organizations and local small businesses with fundraising initiatives. She credits her success to her drive to finish her education and looks forward to helping others do the same.
