Ahmad Shariftabrizi, MD, clinical assistant professor at The University of Iowa and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in radiology and nuclear medicine.
Dr. Shariftabrizi is a board-certified nuclear medicine and nuclear cardiology specialist with more than two decades of experience in his field. He was awarded his Doctor of Medicine at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2001, and completed postdoctoral study in cancer research and molecular imaging at institutions including the Boston University School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and the University of Vermont Rudy L. Ruggles Biomedical Research Institute. He began teaching in 2017 as a clinical instructor in nuclear and molecular imaging at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Shariftabrizi has been clinical faculty at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine since 2020, and a clinical assistant professor of radiology at the Stony Brook University Renaissance School of Medicine since 2021.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Shariftabrizi is a clinical trial professional for Imaging Endpoints and a staff physician in the Division of Nuclear Medicine at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa, where he has seen patients since 2019. Dr. Shariftabrizi has been a clinical fellow of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the University of Pittsburgh, and has served as a consultant faculty member at Tehran University and the Molecular Pharmacology Program at Sloan Kettering. He hopes to develop novel nuclear medicine therapies, and has been a principal investigator in a number of clinical trials, including volunteer research in collaboration with the International Society for Children with Cancer and Northwestern University. In recognition of his work, Dr. Shariftabrizi was nominated for a 2017 Gold Humanism Honor Society Award, and is a reviewer for numerous professional journals. Among other professional affiliations, he is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Radiology, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.
