Dr. John A. Pieper, Adjunct Professor within the Department of Anesthesiology of the School of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in pharmacology and education.
Inspired by the pharmacists he looked up to, Dr. Pieper has dedicated his career to serving as a mentor for aspiring young pharmacists. He initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts in molecular, cellular and developmental biology from the University of Colorado in 1974 and a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of Wyoming in 1977. Thereafter, he earned a Doctor of Pharmacy and completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the State University of New York in 1979 and 198 respectively. Over the course of his career, he found notable success as an educator and a leader within institutions such as the University of Florida, the University of Tennessee, the University of Colorado, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of New Mexico and the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis. With decades of expertise in clinical pharmacology, he remains committed to his role as a clinical FLASH translational research scientist within the Department of Anesthesiology of the School of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
Supplementing his professional career, Dr. Pieper has served as the chairman of the Council of President of the American Midwest Conference, an elected speaker of the House of Delegates of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, an elected member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and a preceptor for the Fellowship in Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapy of the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists Research and Education Foundation. For his contributions in the field, he is honored to have been presented with accolades such as the Dean Golod Award, the Robert G. Leonard Memorial Lecture Award. Moreover, he is proud to have been recognized as an Outstanding Dean by the American Pharmacists Association’s Academy of Student Pharmacists and Teacher of the Year by the College of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. Looking toward the future, his goal is to continue providing consulting services and academic accreditation with his international consulting practice. Above all, he is gratified that his work has benefitted entities located in the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
