Dr. Gaines has always been interested in teaching and the education profession ever since she was a child. Following the death of her father, her mother encouraged her to set goals that would enable her to accomplish her life-long dream of teaching. With this in mind, Dr. Gaines went on to matriculate at the Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and early childhood education, a master’s degree in elementary education and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership by 2009. She also holds a graduate certification in administration and supervision from Florida State University. While keeping a focus on teaching and learning, Dr. Gaines attributes her success with students to helping them move beyond where they are at any given academic level.

In her professional career, Dr. Gaines has taught at the Gadsden County School District in Quincy, Florida and the Leon County School District in Tallahassee, where she later served as the elementary school assistant principal and principal. Today, she excels as the chief executive officer and educational consultant of Success By Design, where she specializes in executive and personal development coaching. Through her classroom experiences with children, she believes that by encouraging their successes, they can envision a bright future. Additionally, Dr. Gaines serves as a member of several State of Florida Education Committees and Councils and has been an adjunct instructor at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. Finding great success in her roles, she has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Outstanding Educator Award, Ida S. Baker Distinguished Educator Award, Teacher of the Year Award and more. Looking ahead, she looks forward to a well-deserved retirement and to travel the country with her husband.
