Edward Ted S. Perry, Fletcher Professor of the Arts Emeritus at Middlebury College has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in film and arts education.
Dr. Perry initially obtained a Bachelor of Arts in drama and English from Baylor University in 1960. Thereafter, he earned a Master of Arts as well as a Doctor of Philosophy in speech and dramatic art from the University of Iowa in 1966 and 1968, respectively. Over the course of his career, he excelled in a multitude of roles within Middlebury College. Most notably, he found success as a professor of theatre and arts between 1978 and 2002, the dean of arts and humanities from 1978 to 1991, the director of the film and video program between 1981 and 2002, a professor of art, film and media culture from 2002 to 2013 and the Fletcher Professor of the Arts from 1997 to 2013. Beginning in 2013, he achieved emeritus status.
Dr. Perry is happy to continue his professional career as a member of the Advisory Board for the C.V. Starr School in Spain, a member of the International Committee, a member of the board of advisors for the Anthology Film Institute and a trustee emeritus for the American Film Institute. Though his career has been suffused with highlights, he is most proud to have established the Film and Video Department within Middlebury College. As the former chair of the Film Department at New York University, he is further gratified to have contributed to the second film studies PhD program in the country. For his contributions in the field, he is honored to have been a recipient of numerous grants as well as the Alumni of Merit Award from Baylor University. A celebrated Marquis listee, he has been presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been selected for inclusion in Who’s Who in the East and Who’s Who in Entertainment.
