Comell Watts Moore, a retired teacher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of education.
Throughout her career, Ms. Moore worked as a teacher for various elementary schools and later served as a lead teacher for the Lanier Technical Institute of Georgia from 1985 until her retirement in 1993. Among her career accomplishments, Ms. Moore is most proud to have taught adult literacy programs at the Lanier Technical Institute
Ms. Moore initially became interested in teaching due to her experiences as a teacher’s assistant during the sixth grade. She studied at Georgia State University, earning an Associate of Arts in education in 1982 and a Bachelor of Arts in 1985. Ms. Moore credits her success to learning the value of a quality education early in her life, and to the example of her father, a strong leader whose support was invaluable during her early career.
An active member of her community, Ms. Moore has volunteered the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association, she sings in her church choir and teaches Sunday School. Outside her work in education, Ms. Moore enjoys writing, and published a poem titled “Consolation” in 1995.
