Dr. Robert L. Grete, superintendent emeritus of Rocky Bayou Christian School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in school administration and military service.
Prior to beginning his career in education, Dr. Grete served proudly to the rank of Captain in the United States Air Force. Dr. Grete directed fighter aircraft as a forward air controller in Southeast Asia in December of 1967 and logged over 5,700 flight hours between 1968 and 1980. In 1973, he founded the Rocky Bayou Christian School, where he remained as director and superintendent until being granted emeritus status in 2005.
Dr. Grete earned a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy West Point in 1958 and a Master of Arts in political science from Baylor University in 1963. During this time, he worked as the director, secretary and treasurer of RBCS, Inc. and an instructor, assistant professor and course director for insurance and personal finance within the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy West Point. He pursued graduate coursework at Columbia University in 1967 and a Master of Business Administration from Auburn University in 1972. Over the course of his career, he has taught in the European Division and the Far East Division at the University of Maryland, an instructor at Okaloosa-Walton Junior College and an instructor of the Gulf Coast Division at Troy State University.
In recognition of his military service, Dr. Grete was decorated with two Meritorious Awards, 13 Air Medals, the Army Commendation Medal and two Silver Stars. One of his Silver Star honors was presented for his service as a forward air controller in defensive military operations against an opposing armed force.
