Robyn Starr-Mendez, a teacher at Alden Central Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the field of primary education.
Drawing on more than three decades of expertise in her chosen field, Ms. Starr-Mendez is recognized for her exemplary work as a teacher for the Alden Central Schools District in New York. In this capacity, she has taught seventh and eighth-grade social studies for more than 25 years. In addition, Ms. Starr-Mendez has also contributed her efforts as a mentor to other teachers during this time.
Ms. Starr-Mendez is most proud to have crafted a safe and nourishing learning environment for her students where acceptance is paramount. She attributes much of her success to the fact that she was raised by a strong mother, and to the example of her father, who lived life to its fullest potential. Ms. Starr-Mendez assisted her father in establishing an educational theater in western New York, where they worked together for 25 years until his passing.
Ms. Starr-Mendez holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology from the State University of New York at Fredonia and went on to study at Buffalo State College, where she received a master’s degree in social studies education in 1996. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Starr-Mendez has distinguished herself through her self-driven nature and ability to stand up for what she believes in. Looking toward the future, she expects to retire soon and spend more quality time with her loving husband, and hopes to begin writing a book.
