Paul R. Renick, Library Media Director, Educator, Church Librarian, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in library and information science.

Since 2010, Mr. Renick has been the co-librarian at Hope Covenant Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He celebrates more than 50 years of dedication to his work as a librarian and educator, beginning his career in 1968 after a college work-study job led him to discover his passion for information science. After earning a Bachelor of Science from Dickinson State College, Mr. Renick attended the Peabody College for Teachers, where he completed a Master of Library Science in 1969. Mr. Renick accepted a faculty position at the University of North Dakota the same year, working full-time as an assistant professor of library science until 1973, and part-time until 1998. In addition to teaching library science at the graduate level, Mr. Renick spent much of his career as a K-12 school librarian, becoming Media Director of Valley Junior High School from 1973 until 1994, and Central High School from 1994 until 2002. 

As an expert in his field and a longtime district staff member, Mr. Renick was recruited as co-chair of a two-year commission on North Dakota library media and technology standards in 2000, and spent two years as Director of the Grand Forks Schools Frameworks Library Media Curriculum Study. Mr. Renick served as a substitute librarian and media director at South Middle School during the 2003-2004 school year before retiring from his work in public schools. An avid swimmer, Mr. Renick has been a high school and NCAA Division II swimming official for much of his career, acting as Deck Meet Director for North Dakota State swim meets from 1980 until 1982 and NCAA National Championship Swim Meet Entry Chair between 2005 and 2010. He is the former President of the North Dakota Library Media Association, former general chair of North Dakota Swimming, and a two-time North Dakota High School Swim Coaches Association High School Swimming Official of the Year. Mr. Renick considers the highlight of his career to be working with students, and remains active in his community, volunteering with several museums.
