Professor Stanley Webster Johnson Ph.D., assistant professor of history at Fayetteville State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in public school and college education.
Dr. Johnson obtained a Bachelor of Science from Fayetteville University in 1963 and a Master of Science from Indiana University in 1966. During this time, he began his career as a teacher with Baltimore City Schools and as an assistant professor of history at Grambling State University. Thereafter, he completed postgraduate coursework at the University of California Los Angeles in 1969 and at Mount St. Mary’s College in 1976. He subsequently found success in a multitude of positions, including his roles as a teacher and educational therapist for the Central City Community Mental Health Center from 1973 to 1974 and the Switzer Center for Educational Therapy from 1975 to 1977, an instructor at Los Angeles Southwest College from 1976 to 1977, and a teacher at Denton Public Schools from 1980 to 1998. He completed his education in 1982, at which time he graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of North Texas.
Following his graduation, Dr. Johnson established himself as a teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District from 1987 to 1988 and an instructor at North Central Texas College from 1989 to 1998. Since 1998, he is gratified to have influenced several generations of students at Fayetteville State University. Throughout his career, he has maintained professional affiliations with the National Education Association, the NAACP, the Texas Teachers Association, and Alpha Kappa Mu. For his contributions in the field, he is honored to be a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the National Association for Equal Opportunity in Higher Education and the Crown Zellerbach Foundation Award. A celebrated Marquis listee, he is proud to have been presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.
