Manny Torres, Founder and Program Director at Technique Tigers Baseball Academy, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educator for dedication, achievements, and leadership as an athlete and sports instructor.

As a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, an evidence-based accreditation organization with more than 30 years of operation, Mr. Torres is the founder and program director of the Technique Tigers Baseball Academy, a post he started in 2005. He has experience working with children of all ages as a teacher, athletic director, mentor, coach and more. His passion for working with youth has led him to his current endeavors, and he views the sport of baseball as a way to impart life lessons to his students, in addition to helping them hone their abilities on the field.

Mr. Torres boasts extensive athletic experience, and was on the Connecticut All-State Baseball teams in both 1994 and 1995. He was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 28th round of the 1995 Amateur Baseball Draft, but chose instead to attend the University of Alabama, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education in 2000. He was named as the Gatorade Player of the Year, and was an All American at his alma mater, the University of Alabama. Mr. Torres previously served as the pitching coach and strength coach at Fairfield University in 2011 and 2012, and has trained over 700 baseball players ranging from 6-year-old students to professional players.

After a college career pitching record of 21-4, Mr. Torres was signed as a free agent with the Cincinnati Reds, but was forced to retire after recurring injuries. He became involved in his field because of his innate love for baseball, and is grateful to have found his true passion in instruction. Mr. Torres attributes his success to being able to inspire, motivate and teach children about the importance of self-discipline, and to his ability to pull together his staff and adapt to challenges he has faced. In the coming years, he looks forward to the continuing success of the Technique Tigers Baseball Academy, and hopes to expand the business into further areas, potentially relaunching a program with Connecticut American Legion Baseball. He always strives to provide more for the people around him.
