Matthew S. Grubbs, Principal of Coventry Elementary, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in educational administration.
As the principal of Coventry Elementary since 2015, Mr. Grubbs has more than 20 years of professional experience in education. He began his career as a fifth-grade teacher at Moweaqua Elementary School in 1999, and from 2000 to 2005, he was a sixth-grade teacher with Hannah Beardsley Middle School. In 2003, Mr. Grubbs earned a Master of Arts, and in 2005, he became an assistant principal at Richard Bernotas Middle School. From 2008 until accepting his current post, he was active as the principal of Lundahl Middle School.
In his current role, Mr. Grubbs is responsible for all the daily operations of Coventry Elementary, which boasts more than 600 students, and is a dual-language building, in which students learn literacy in both English and Spanish. He supervises more than 70 staff members, and is involved in hiring, training, and retaining the school’s staff. Mr. Grubbs works to foster collaborative relationships among the students, staff members, and parents in his school’s community and evaluates curriculum while working to ensure and promote a positive school culture in which every person feels safe.
