Judy Starks Knadel, Director of the Campus Learning Center at Augustana University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in elementary education.
Having possessed a love for working with children from a young age, Ms. Knadel has dedicated her life to her role as a positive influence during the first several years of each child’s educational experience. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, with a focus on child psychology from Yankton College in 1972 and a Master of Arts in special education from Augustana University in 1993. Moreover, she is proud to have earned the highest level of certification through the South Dakota Pathways Program. She began her career with Augustana University as an administrator from 1988 to 2001. Above all, she is gratified to have taught and formed lasting and meaningful relationships with her students and their families.
Ms. Knadel has presented her research at numerous conferences and her master thesis, “Attachment Disorder: Its impact on Preschool and Social Settings,” was published by ERIC for educational research in libraries throughout the country. Dedicated to providing for her community, she regularly donates to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Children’s Home Society, St Joseph’s Indian School, and Boy’s Town. Throughout her career, she has maintained professional affiliations with the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the South Dakota Association for the Education of Young Children, the Siouxland Association for Education of Young Children and the Siouxland Association of Child Care Directors. Looking toward the future, she aims to continue influencing as many students as possible while keeping her mind open to learning new things.
