Debbie Lang, a technology teacher at Longwood Central School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in industrial technology education.
Since coming of age, Ms. Lang has always harbored a desire to pursue a career in which she could work with her hands. Though she did not initially intend to begin teaching, she was recommended to assist students with special needs in the Science and Technology Entry Program while completing her undergraduate education. As a result, she fell in love with teaching, and subsequently obtained a Bachelor of Science in industrial arts education from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1990 and a Master of Science in special education from Dowling College in 1994. Furthermore, she has earned a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study and is certified in instructional curriculum leadership by Northcentral University. In addition to her contributions to the field through the industrial arts program at Longwood Central School District, Ms. Lang has established herself as a coach of robotics, cheerleading and softball for over 20 years.
For her achievements in robotics, Ms. Lang is proud to have been presented with the Hofstra University Chairman’s Award in 2003, 2012 and 2019. Additionally, she has been named as the Woman Educator of the Year by Brookhaven County in 2015, the Teacher of the Year in 2012, the Volunteer of the Year in 2007 and the Dowling Educator of the Year in 2006. Throughout the course of her career, she has maintained a professional affiliation with the School-Business Partnerships of Long Island Inc. Furthermore, she has served on the District Level Technology Committee of Longwood CSD and has excelled as the commissioner of the Longwood Youth Sports Association. With an unwavering passion for her career, Ms. Lang aims to continue working as an educator within the Longwood Central School District for as long as she is able.
