Donna Lee Durno, author and retired executive director at Regional School Service Unit, Intermediate Units, Allegheny Intermediate Unit, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education and writing.
Dr. Durno chose to pursue a career in education so she could be home with her children during the summer. Her mother was an educator, so she felt it was the right direction to go. Before starting on her career path, she matriculated at Seton Hill University, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree, and a Doctor of Philosophy.
Dr. Durno is most proud of the time she spent traveling around America teaching and learning at the age of 71. She taught at 46 schools in 19 states and fondly recalls the experience, describing it as an amazing time for her. She is currently an author and retired from her executive director role at Regional School Service Unit, Intermediate Units, and Allegheny Intermediate Unit. Previously, she held the positions of commissioner of basic education, school superintendent, and high school economics teacher. As a testament to her success, Dr. Durno received the Federal Group Award.
