Sarah Ellen Hawkes, manager of network services at the Arkansas State Library, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in library science.
For over 35 years, Ms. Hawkes has established herself as a cornerstone of the Arkansas State Library community. Throughout her career, she has provided services as a reference librarian, a primary school librarian, an adult services librarian, and a public library consultant. Prior to her position at the Arkansas State Library, she excelled as an adult services librarian with the Glenside Public Library District. She obtained a Bachelor of Education from Bowling Green State University in 1974 and a Master of Legal Studies from the University of South Florida in 1979. From a young age, she has always been an avid reader.
Ms. Hawkes is proud to have served as the intellectual freedom chair for the Arkansas Library Association. For her contributions, she is honored to have been presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and recognized as a Technical Leader of the Year by the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media. She is also an accomplished author of romantic comedies under the pseudonyms Sally Falcon and Sarah Eagle, with notable works such as “A Reluctant Suitor,” “Marriage Gamble,” “The Bedeviled Baron,” “Lady Vengeance,” “Summer’s Folly” and “Remember the Night.” Ms. Hawkes’ novels use both historical and contemporary settings and draw inspiration from the various different places she has lived around the country. In addition, she regularly contributes her writing skills to the Novelists, Inc. monthly newsletter.
