Sharon W. Coleman, Retired Teacher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educator for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
As the oldest of four siblings, Ms. Coleman was often seen as a motherly figure and teaching came naturally as she got older. Involved with other students and children during her own educational studies, she decided to become a teacher. Drawing upon a Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree, the latter of which she obtained in 1974, Ms. Coleman excelled as a teacher for more than 35 years prior to her retirement. She also holds a certification in gifted education. She attributes her immense success to her upbringing, as she had immense support and encouragement from her parents. Additionally, she credits the support of her own husband and children, who have always motivated her to excel in all facets of her life, especially in her own career.
Although her career has been filled with highlights, Ms. Coleman is especially proud of working with her students on a daily basis and establishing a close connection with them as they navigated the many complexities of learning several subjects. Alongside her teaching endeavors, she was also affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America for more than three decades, who bestowed upon her the Silver Beaver Award. As a testament to her success, Ms. Coleman was profiled in Who’s Who in America in both 2007 and 2010. Looking toward the future, she intends to remain involved in teaching as she is currently tutoring a young girl amid the coronavirus pandemic. She currently resides in Woodstock, Georgia.
