Drawing on nearly two decades of inimitable expertise in the field of motivational speaking and suicide prevention, Mr. Hudson is recognized for his exemplary work as the founder and executive director of Reasons 2 Believe Educational Inc., a non-for-profit organization that focuses on youth empowerment that seeks to promote mental health awareness and academic success by strengthening social and emotional bonds. Notable for his work as an author and educator, he has likewise distinguished himself as a consultant with Focus Driven Enterprises LLC, and previously served as an academic coach for the Kauffman Foundation between 2008 and 2010. Drawing motivation from his accomplishments in sports where he played semi-professional basketball with the international touring team (AIA) Athletes in Action. Facing adversity is commonplace for John as he overcame a speech impediment and dyslexia, as a child. Mr. Hudson initially embarked upon his professional journey as a community support specialist and academic counselor.
A prolific writer, Mr. Hudson has written a number of works in support of his career. Among them, he is the author of the children’s book series “The Fantastic Adventures of Fred Dexter and Friends: Fred Dexter.” The published book series started in 2015 and still has current books coming out in the future for kids of all ages. “The Difference that Makes the Difference 7 Keys to Success Recapture Your True S.W.A.G.G.E.R,” released in 2011 and “Ignored and Ignited: H.O.O.P.S of Life” in 2007. To commemorate both his vast body of work as an author, as well as his performance as a motivational speaker, Mr. Hudson has garnered several accolades, including induction into the Webster University Wall of Fame in 2020 and the Reasons to Believe Award from the Kansas City Kansas Public School district in 2018.
Mr. Hudson’s accomplishments in the field were born of his academic performance. Holding a bachelor’s degree, he subsequently received a Master of Arts in higher education administration at the University of Saint Mary in 2005 and a Master of Arts in counseling at Webster University in 2014. Looking toward the future, Mr. Hudson aspires to become formally licensed as a counselor and perhaps undertake additional coursework toward a Doctor of Philosophy. Likewise, he hopes to publish several more books and leverage the profits toward media that enshrines the importance of mental health wellness.
