Pepper Boudreaux DuPont, a teacher and technology specialist at Athlos Academy of Jefferson Parish, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in elementary education.
Ms. DuPont is an award-winning elementary school teacher currently specializing in third grade math and science classes and technology training and support for students, parents, and staff. As a child, she loved to play school, but her interest in becoming a teacher blossomed after several negative classroom experiences in middle and high school inspired her to reach greater heights. She earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education at the University of New Orleans in 2001 while working as an administrative assistant for the school. Becoming the first member of her family to attend college, Ms. DuPont is licensed to teach grades one through eight, and began teaching for the Jefferson Parish Public School System in 2001.
Ms. DuPont remained active with the district for more than 15 years, leaving to spend the 2018 to 2019 academic year at the Immaculate Conception School. She returned to Jefferson Parish’s Athlos Academy in 2019, accepting her current role as a third-grade math and science teacher and community technology specialist. Ms. DuPont attributes her success to flexibility and the ability to remain abreast of changes in instructional methods and curricula.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. DuPont has been named as a Walmart Teacher of the Year, Jefferson Parish Teacher of the Year and a Teacher of the Month in recognition of her commitment to her students and profession. In the coming years, she hopes to transition into school leadership with the eventual goal of becoming a superintendent. To this end, Ms. DuPont is currently completing coursework toward a Master of Arts in school administration.
