Louise Joe Luther, Retired Elementary Teacher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in elementary education.
Since her formative years, Ms. Luther had desired to spearhead a career in teaching. Attaining her childhood goal, she excelled as an elementary teacher at the Cottonwood Day School, now known as the Cottonwood Classical Preparatory School, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Notably, Ms. Luther worked for the federal county for 25 years and for public schools for 45 years, from 1976 until commencing her retirement in 2014. In teaching first grade students and kindergarteners, she prepared and implemented lesson plans based on curriculum and state standards, assessed students in reading and intervention and tutored at after-school programs.
Matriculating at the University of New Mexico, Ms. Luther achieved a Bachelor of Science in general studies in 2003, along with a Master of Education and an education specialist certification. She attributes her career success to her upbringing, as her grandmother played a strong influential role in pursuing her professional endeavors. Looking ahead, Ms. Luther aims to continue contributing to teaching and education in any possible capacity. In her spare time, she enjoys her retirement by gardening and reading. Ms. Luther has one daughter and two grandchildren.
