Daniel L. Hibbett, Director of Music at St. Luke Lutheran Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in music education and performance.

Inspired to become a music educator in his youth, Dr. Hibbett always knew that he wished to leverage music for a religious purpose. He commenced his career a music teacher at Orchard Junior High School in Wenatchee, Washington from 1978 to 1980 before pivoting to higher education and religious institutions. From there, he was the director of music at Wenatchee Free Methodist Church and Edmonds United Methodist Church between 1979 and 1997, having also taught as a professor of music at Central College in McPherson, Kansas for seven years until 1988. Dr. Hibbett went on to teach as an adjunct music professor at Seattle Pacific University in 1994 and 1995 and professor of music at Northwest Nazarene University from 1997 to 2000. He finished off the final 21 years of his career as the director of music at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Portland, Oregon in 2021.

Dr. Hibbett received a Bachelor of Arts in music education, magna cum laude, from Seattle Pacific University in 1976 and a Master of Arts in music from Central Washington University in 1981. Later, in 1998, he attained a Doctorate in musical arts, magna cum laude, from the University of Washington. Notably, he performed and sang in Carnegie Hall with Mark Hayes and Distinguished Concerts International New York in 2018 and is most proud to have worked with many talented individuals for a production of “Phantom” and “My Fair Lady.” To remain abreast of his industry, Dr. Hibbett maintains affiliation with Chorister’s Guild, American Choral Director Association, Handbell Musicians of America and Association of Lutheran Church Musicians. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and golfing. As a testament to his legacy, Dr. Hibbett can also be found in the 60th edition of Who’s Who in America.
