Christopher W. Nipper, MS, Work Experience Coordinator at Iowa School for the Deaf, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in deaf education administration.

A deaf educator of more than three decades, Mr. Nipper has flourished as a work experience coordinator at the Iowa School for the Deaf. Taking on numerous feats, he coordinates and supports part-time paid employment for 4-PLUS, the Post-Senior Learning for Ultimate Success Transition Program for students aged 18 to 21, as well as coordinates volunteer training opportunities for them on campus. In addition, Mr. Nipper serves on the transition services team for high school students by providing job shadowing and hands-on experiences with business tours, invites guest career speakers to the campus and more. A strong advocate for the deaf population, he is devoted to helping others learn American Sign Language.

Mr. Nipper received a Bachelor of Arts in physical and secondary education from Gallaudet University in 1990 and a Master of Arts in deaf education from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1994. He had also been a student at the Tennessee School for the Deaf and the University of Northern Iowa. Mr. Nipper initially became inspired to become an educator from the influence of his third-grade social studies teacher, who was his first deaf educator. She saw great potential in the young Mr. Nipper and further encouraged him to be the best he could be inside and outside of the classroom.

To remain abreast on his field, Mr. Nipper sits on the board of directors of Deaf Iowans Against Abuse and holds membership with the Iowa Association of the Deaf, who granted him an Educator Award for his contributions to the 4-PLUS Transition Program in 2019. He attributes all of his success to the heart of deaf and hearing-impaired students, as their progress in building their skills, path and goals is what encourages him to grow professionally and personally. In five years’ time, Mr. Nipper hopes to write a book about his life and experiences before commencing his well-deserved retirement.
