Tommy Dean Morgan, English Language Educator, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in English language education.
An international educator, Mr. Morgan has flourished as an educator of English throughout Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and the United States. In the 1980s, after completing a newspaper job, he commenced his teaching career at the Catherine Academy, Morris College, the University of South Carolina, Sumter Area Technical College and Jacksonville State University. From there, he brought his expertise overseas to Saudi Arabia at institutions such as the Northwest Armed Forces Hospital, Military College of Health Sciences, Prince Sultan University, Lockheed-Martin Middle East Services and Arabian Oil Company. Mr. Morgan also taught at the School of Languages and Kuwait Naval School, Institute for Private Education and Training, the American University of Kuwait and Box Hill College in Kuwait and at the University of Nizwa in Oman. Most recently, he worked at the King Abdulaziz Air Base in Saudi Arabia from 2017 to 2019. He also worked as a technical service instructor for Raytheon Information Intelligence Services in Oklahoma in 2016 and 2017.
Mr. Morgan received a Bachelor of Science, magna cum laude, from Troy State University in 1977 and a Master of Arts from the University of Alabama in 1979. Notably, he holds a certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults from Cambridge University via the British Council-Kuwait and is certified by the Defense Language Institute (DLI) at Lackland Air Force Base. Inspired by his former English teacher, Elizabeth Pope, Mr. Morgan credits her early influence as his drive to take on the profession in his own right. Presently, he maintains affiliation with the Modern Language Association, South Atlantic Modern Language Association, National Council of Teachers of English, Conference of College Composition and Communication, Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Southeastern Writing Center Association, New Chaucer Society, Association of College English Teachers of Alabama and Southeastern Society for Restoration and 18th Century Studies. To attest to his legacy, Mr. Morgan is also listed in the 11th edition of Who’s Who in the World.
