Gail L. Cramer, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus at Louisiana State University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in agriculture economics.

Growing up in an agriculturally abundant industry area, Dr. Cramer desired to build a career upon the study of agriculture economics. Notably, he has since analyzed world resources to support the world livestock populations, spearheaded quality grain marketing and policy programs and more. Finding his niche in education, Dr. Cramer excelled at Louisiana State University for 17 years until attaining emeritus status in 2017. Prior, he was an L.C. Carter Professor at the University of Arkansas from 1987 to 2000 and a professor at Montana State University for one decade until 1986. He commenced his career with Montana State University, serving as an assistant and associate professor between 1967 and 1976. A fellow of the IAMA, Dr. Cramer is also a member of the National Association of Agricultural Economic Administrators, of which he was appointed president in 2004.

Finding great success in his career, Dr. Cramer was the recipient of an Agricultural and Applied Economics Association Trust Award, a Gamma Sigma Delta District Agricultural Achievement Award and the 2002 Southern Agricultural Economics Association Lifetime Achievement Award, among other accolades. With these achievements, he cites the highlight of his career was writing the beginning of an agriculture economic text where he changed the approach to agriculture economics from a descriptive study to the application of economics to agriculture. Dr. Cramer received a Bachelor of Science from Washington State University in 1963 and a Master of Science from Michigan State University in 1964. In 1968, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in agriculture economics from Oregon State University. To attest to his legacy, Dr. Cramer can also be found in numerous editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest and Who’s Who in the World.
