Paula J. Toti, Retired Physical Education Teacher at Shrewsbury Public Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in physical education.
Ms. Toti had been physically active in various sports throughout her youth and high school years. Upon settling on a profession, she desired to remain involved in physical activity, subsequently having a “light bulb” moment to seek a career in coaching and teaching. Ms. Toti received a Bachelor of Arts from Rhode Island College in 1988 and a Master of Education from the University of New England in 2000. In the early years of her career, she was a coach for Burrillville High School in Harrisville, Rhode Island and Dean College in Franklin, Massachusetts leading up to 1990.
Notably, Ms. Toti offered 21 years as a physical education teacher, along with time spent as a field hockey coach and softball assistant coach, at Shrewsbury High School until commencing her retirement in 2012. Despite stepping down from coaching and athletic booster club duties at the school, she went on to focus on administering nutrition, fitness and adventure programs through the Carol M. White Physical Education Program. Reflecting on her illustrious career, she is honored to have been granted Athletic Awards from Burrillville High School and accomplishments featured in Sports Illustrator in 1984. She attributes much of her success to her field hockey coach, Leah Dauphnie. Presently, Ms. Toti is a member of the Massachusetts Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and a volunteer for the Pascal Community Baptist Church.
