Virginia Marie Parker, Retired Teacher at Blue Hills Regional Technical School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in English education.
A certified secondary English teacher, Ms. Parker most recently excelled as an English teacher at Blue Hills Regional Technical School from 1973 until her retirement in 2007. Prior to this appointment, she contributed as a school newspaper advisor for the aforementioned school for two years. Earlier in her career, Ms. Parker volunteered for the Jesuit Voluntary Corps Northwest from 1972 to 1973. In addition to her primary endeavors, she served as an editorial consultant for the Department of Education and the Occupational Division for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts between 1984 and 1988. Likewise, Ms. Parker was the National Honor Society advisor and the screening committee member for the William A. Dwyer Chapter of the Blue Hills Regional Technical School.
In a career filled with highlights, Ms. Parker is most proud of her participation with the Jesuit community. When she began as a Jesuit volunteer, it was not quite an established organization yet, so many people did not understand what they were about. The Jesuit Volunteer Corp has since expanded and is now known worldwide. For her accomplishments in the field, Ms. Parker has been the recipient of numerous accolades including the Outstanding Educator Award from the Norfolk County Teachers Association. A graduate of Emmanuel College, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1972. After completing postgraduate coursework in English at the University of Oxford University for two years, Ms. Parker concluded her academic efforts with a Master of Arts from Middlebury College in 1989.
