Gary E. Myrah, MSEd, Executive Director at Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Services, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in academic administration.
With more than four decades of experience to his credit, Mr. Myrah currently excels as the executive director of the Wisconsin Council of Administrators of Special Services, a position he has held since 2011. In this role, some of his responsibilities include providing information to the Directors of Special Education and Pupil Services throughout Wisconsin. Additionally, he lobbies for children with disabilities so that the legislation will protect their rights and provide them a good education.
Prior to this appointment, he served as the director of special services for the Port Washington Saukville School District in Wisconsin from 1984 to 2011. At the start of his career, Mr. Myrah contributed as the director of pupil services for the Adams Friendship School District in Wisconsin from 1977 to 1984. Outside of his professional endeavors, he served as chairman of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Exceptional Education Advisory Board and as president of the Wisconsin Council of Administrative Pupil Services from 1984 to 1985.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Mr. Myrah earned a Master of Science in Education in 1977. In a career filled with highlights, he is particularly proud of being the three-time winner of Director of the Year, a feat that no other director has been able to accomplish. He is also very proud of his three children and their personal success. In his spare time, Mr. Myrah enjoys fishing and traveling.
