Dr. Silvia Rolle-Rissetto, Professor of Hispanic Studies at California State University, San Marcos, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in foreign languages.
Dr. Rolle-Rissetto grew up loving languages. She was born in Argentina to Italian parents, both of whom had Italian parents of their own. This resulted in Dr. Rolle-Rissetto becoming familiar with Spanish and three different dialects of Italian in her youth. As she got older, she continued to follow her interest in languages. In recent years, Dr. Rolle-Rissetto’s work has diversified, bringing her many new projects on which to work. As a testament to her success, she is featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
In 1987, Dr. Rolle-Rissetto earned a Bachelor of Arts in French and Spanish from California State University, Long Beach. Graduating with summa cum laude, with honors, she proceeded to remain at her alma mater until 1990. That year, she acquired a Master’s degree in Spanish. From there, Dr. Rolle-Rissetto relocated to the University of California, Riverside, attaining a Doctor of Philosophy in Spanish, summa cum laude with honors, by 1996. She was additionally certified in Italian Language and Culture by Università Degli Studi di Siena in Italy.
Dr. Rolle-Rissetto began her career in 1988 as a Spanish teacher at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California. In the years that followed, she became a part-time lecturer at Long Beach City College, a part-time medical and legal interpreter for numerous companies and a part-time teaching associate at the University of California, Riverside. In 1996, Dr. Rolle-Rissetto became a professor of Hispanic studies and the chair of the modern language studies department at California State University, San Marcos. She continues to excel in these roles today. Further, she has served as an author, editor and contributor to numerous professional publications alongside her success as a poet. Dr. Rolle-Rissetto’s poems have been highlighted in various anthologies and refereed journals. She has additionally received multiple awards for her poetry, including honors from the Poets of the World Movement consecutively since 2016. Looking toward the future, Dr. Rolle-Rissetto is excited to continue on her current path.
