Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, PhD, Professor and Head of IS and Supply Chain Management at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in economics education.
Upon earning a Master of Business Administration in operations management from Punjabi University in India in 1988, Dr. Dhillon relocated to England to continue his academic endeavors. Enrolling at the London School of Economics, he obtained a Master of Science in 1989 and a Doctor of Philosophy in information systems in 1995. At the beginning of his professional career, he worked as an assistant professor at the Cranfield School of Management in the U.K. and City University of Hong Kong. He later joined as a professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. From 2002 to 2017, he excelled as a professor of information security at the Virginia Commonwealth University. At Virginia Commonwealth University, he directed and launched the online MBA program and was twice presented with the Excellence Award in 2006 and 2011. Presently, Dr. Dhillon is a professor and head of IS and supply chain management at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a visiting professor at the ISEG School of Economics and Management and the chief executive officer of Aldwych Associates.
Notably, Dr. Dhillon accepted an honorary doctorate from Örebro University in Sweden in 2019. Furthermore, he has served on the advisory board of several companies and is also a member of the FBI InfraGard. He has authored more than 100 research articles published in various journals, as his research has led him to explore aspects of information security, identity and assurance. Likewise, he has written more than a dozen books and serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Information System Security. His expert comments have been featured in the New York Times, USA Today and Business Week, among other popular press magazines and newspapers. A prolific consultant within the industry and government, he has contributed to various organizations in the U.S., U.K., United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Portugal, India, Sweden and Belgium. He attributes his vast success to his academic training at the London School of Economics and his interactions with his students. As a testament to his outstanding legacy, Dr. Dhillon has been profiled in the 63rd through 67th editions of Who’s Who in America.
