Having harbored a passion for music throughout her entire life, Ms. Parkinson initially pursued a formal education at Utah State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 1986. Since 1987, she has found much success as a music educator at Brigham Young University. Furthermore, she has excelled as an accompanist with the Eastern Idaho Choral, the Idaho Falls Opera Theater and the Idaho Falls Youth Arts Centre. Ms. Parkinson has additionally offered her wealth of musical knowledge to up-and-coming musicians through private piano and organ lessons out of her personal studio.
Having composed a number of organ pieces for the Jackman Music Corporation, Ms. Parkinson has also authored multiple piano, organ and keyboard publications. Moreover, she remains affiliated with such organizations as the American Guild of Organists and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Notably mentored by Darwin Wolford and James Drake, she is incredibly proud to have performed as a guest organist for Temple Square in Salt Lake City. As a testament to her exemplary accomplishments, Ms. Parkinson has been recognized in multiple editions of Who’s Who in America.
