Beverly J. Stroud, English Professor at Tri-County Technical College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in English education.
Inspired to help others, Ms. Stroud knew she wanted to become a teacher from a young age. In 1972, she graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and library science, which provided her with the credentials to enroll at Converse College. By 1988, she earned a Master’s degree in English education. From 1970 until 1988, she became familiar with the profession as a teacher at Berea High School. From there, Ms. Stroud became an English professor at Greenville Technical College, remaining until 2008. In the following years, she served as an instructor at Strayer University and an English professor at Tri-County Technical College. Ms. Stroud continues to uphold the latter role today, demonstrating consistent success.
For 15 years, Ms. Stroud volunteered with the Guardian of Litem Program. Active in her civic community, she additionally worked with the local Parent-Teacher Association, the board for the Chautauqua Society and St. Mary’s School of Literacy Magazine, for which she was the coordinator. Moreover, Ms. Stroud maintains affiliation with the National Association of Professional Women, the American Society of Equine Appraisers and the Greenville Technical College Alumni Association, among other professional groups. Reflecting on her accomplishments, Ms. Stroud credits her relationships with her students and their parents, as an open line of communication between parties can be extremely beneficial. In the future, she hopes to continue teaching, volunteering and helping her community for as long as possible. Ms. Stroud additionally enjoys traveling and she hopes to see more of the world in the coming years.
