Carolyn E. Buser, PhD, Student at Virginia Theological Seminary, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in correctional education.
Backed by a Bachelor of Arts in English, Dr. Buser initially earned a master’s degree in special education from the University of Maryland in 1985. She had previously begun her career as a correctional teacher for the Maryland Division of Correction, proceeding to continue working in the field for a number of years to come. After serving as the correctional education supervisor for the Maryland Department of Education, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in educational policy and administration from the University of Maryland in 1996. Building off her newly updated academic resume, she became appointed as the director of correctional education for the Maryland Department of Education from 2000 to 2006. She currently excels as a consultant in adult correctional education with the Correctional Education Association. Furthermore, Dr. Buser is pursuing a Master of Divinity at the Virginia Theological Seminary.
Outside of her primary endeavors, Dr. Buser has worked with numerous civic organizations throughout her adult life. From 2001 until 2006, she served on the Maryland State Use Industrial Council and the Maryland State Advisory Council on Adult Education. From 1984 until 1985, she was active with the American Correctional Association, which was followed by work with the Girl Scout Council of Central Maryland in 1992. She maintains her affiliation with the Correctional Education Association, Phi Kappa Phi and the editorial board for the Journal of Correctional Education, on which she has participated since 2002. As a testament to her professional success, Dr. Buser has been featured in numerous editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of American Women.
