Cynthia Kaniski, MEd, ASL Teacher at Segerstrom High School, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in American Sign Language education.
Ms. Kaniski grew up in a family of educators. Her mother was a special education teacher and her dad worked in adult education, which inspired her to want to pursue a career of her own in the industry. She had always been passionate about American Sign Language (ASL), which only further motivated her to seek a career in education, as she would be able to enlighten others with an alternate way to communicate. Backed by a Master of Education in cross-cultural education and educational administration, Ms. Kaniski has excelled as an ASL teacher at Segerstrom High School since 2017.
Ms. Kaniski commenced her career as an ASL teacher at Thousand Oaks in 2003. Remaining in this role until 2005, she proceeded to loan her skills to a number of local schools. These include St. Poly Clarke Elementary School, Rosary Academy, and Cypress High School. Outside of her primary endeavors, Ms. Kaniski is a gifted writer, as some of her work has been published in the National Anthology for Poetry. An active member of her industry, she maintains affiliation with the National Association of the Deaf and the ASL Teachers Association. Reflecting on her multitude of accomplishments, she credits her endlessly supportive family and her strong sense of faith to where she is today. Looking toward the future, she hopes to venture into academic administration.
