Reverend Steven B. Glass Sr., Special Education Teacher at Little Rock School District, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in special education.
Inspired by his middle school teachers, Mr. Glass desired to become an educator since his formative years. Along with the support and encouragement of his grandmother, he prayed for direction in his career and officially decided to pursue teaching. In 1990, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi, and went on to obtain a degree in special education from the University of Mississippi in 2001. Notably, Mr. Glass has served as a middle school special education teacher in the Little Rock, Arkansas School District since 2007. For the past 13 years, he has taught his students in a self-contained classroom and volunteers to take on other duties, such as bus patrol and one-on-one learning. Mr. Glass believes his most notable career achievement has been preparing his students for their early skills in reading. He is proud that his students have excelled in recognizing high-frequency words, such as the six-syllable type, and have progressed with open and closed syllables.
Looking back on his illustrious career, Mr. Glass attributes his success to his positive attitude. With his positivity has come great honors, as he has received a National Academic Deans Student’s Award for four consecutive years, as well as a Stanford Young Men Award from Stanford University. Mr. Glass has also earned a Who’s Who in College Student’s Award, National Young Men in America Award, and Runner Up Student of the Year Award. Presently, he maintains affiliation with the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Alpha Phi Alpha. In five years’ time, Mr. Glass would like to pursue a Master’s degree and contribute to more fieldwork and speaking opportunities in his local community. Devoted to his faith, he plans to publish his book, “Concerning the Spiritual Gift” by the end of 2020. His first book, “Moral Panic” was published in 2008 and he has also sung gospel and preached on WKRA radio. In his spare time, Mr. Glass enjoys writing and sports.
