JeTuan D. Parker, Educator at Birmingham City Schools, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education.
Upon deciding her professional future, Ms. Parker always had the teaching profession in the back of her mind. From watching her aunt excel as a teacher, along with her own efforts in tutoring her brothers, it seemed to Ms. Parker that teaching was her destined path all along. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Tuskegee, Alabama and went on to achieve a Master of Science from Cambridge University in England. From there, she earned an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Montevallo in Alabama. Since 1995, Ms. Parker has been an educator with the Jefferson County School District, as well as with Birmingham City Schools.
As a testament to her success, Ms. Parker was named Teacher of the Year in 2007. She has also been inducted as a member of ASD, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Eastern Star and the NAACP. She attributes her career success to her love for teaching and helping students achieve their academic goals. The most rewarding aspect of Ms. Parker’s career is seeing her students progress in their educational trajectory. She has run into some of her former students that are now professionals and teachers as well. Some students have come back to visit her and they tell her that they are in education because of her, which warms her heart. At the beginning of 2020, she was proud to watch one of her student teachers become a wonderful teacher and graduate with honors. Looking toward the future, Ms. Parker would like to publish her own book. She currently keeps a journal, but she will continue to write with the goal of releasing her work one day.
