Dorothy Travis Moore, PhD, Educational Consultant, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in secondary education.

Dr. Moore became involved in her profession because of her involvement in working with children at a residential treatment center. She loves to be creative and loves people, so she participated in an international talent show. She did a monologue called “Mary Had A Little Lamb,” which was about a girl who struggled in school. In her story, the father was a minister and helped his daughter through the use of the ministry.  In the audience of the talent show was the superintendent of the local school district, who called Dr. Moore and asked her to work for his school. She accepted the position, going on to excel for a multitude of years. Prior to beginning her career as an educator, Dr. Moore earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. She then received a Master of Arts in psychology from Ball University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Christian council from Grace Theological Seminary.

Dr. Moore’s career highlight was when she worked with one of her students from sixth grade through high school. After high school, this student went into the U.S. Army and called Dr. Moore to tell her just how helpful she was. He said, “If I do not make it back, I would have never been the man you have helped me to be.” This was just one of the many moments that make Dr. Moore proud to be a teacher. Since 2016, she has been an educational consultant. Previously, she was the founder and chief executive officer of the Ceria M. Travis Academy. As a testament to her success, Dr. Moore has received myriad awards. These include the Top Principals of Leadership Award, the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin, the Prestigious Award Women of Excellence from the city of New Orleans, and an Outstanding Educator Award from Alpha Alpha Kappa, among others. Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Moore enjoys spending time with her husband, Felton, and their two children.
