Joanne Balducci DeFeo, Professor, Author and CPA at Pasco-Hernando State College, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in accounting.
During her time in grade school, Ms. DeFeo quickly discovered her innate skill for mathematics. When she informed her ninth-grade teacher that she was thinking about becoming a math teacher, he instead suggested she pursue accounting. After learning more about the industry, Ms. DeFeo decided to take her teacher’s advice. In 1984, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York Old Westbury. Later, in 2002, she acquired a Master’s degree in business administration from the New York Institute of Technology. Shortly thereafter, Ms. DeFeo became a certified public accountant (CPA).
From 2005 until 2015, Ms. DeFeo pursued a career in education as an adjunct professor in accounting at Queensborough Community College. Alongside this role, she acted as a college comptroller for Nassau Community College. Currently, Ms. DeFeo is excelling as a professor, author and CPA at Pasco-Hernando State College. In 2018, her book, “Red Means Go: The Story About My Life,” was published and she is currently in the process of writing another book. An active member of her industry, Ms. DeFeo maintains affiliation with a number of professional organizations. These include the American Institute of Public Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Government Accountants, among others. Looking toward the future, she is hopeful and excited to become a sub-contractor for an established accounting firm.
