George Franklin Woodliff III, Rector at Trinity Episcopal Church, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Educators for dedication, achievements, and leadership in religion.

From a young age, Mr. Woodliff always participated in church activities. Though he considered pursuing a career as a priest, he ultimately decided to explore legal work following his high school graduation. In 1970, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Mississippi, going on to acquire a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia. Shortly thereafter, he was certified to practice law in the state of Mississippi. Mr. Woodliff began his career as an associate at Heidelberg & Woodliff in 1973. By 1976, he had been promoted to partner, taking on the additional title of managing partner in 1986. In 1991, after many years of success, Mr. Woodliff retired from his career in law.

Later, in 1995, Mr. Woodliff became a chaplain for Mississippi State University. This role inspired him to finally pursue a career in the priesthood. In 1998, he was hired as the rector for Trinity Episcopal Church after attending the theological school affiliated with Oxford University in England. Mr. Woodliff remains in this role today, working toward unity with all of his parishioners.

As a testament to his professional success, Mr. Woodliff was named Man of the Year by the Yazoo Herald in 2008. One year earlier, he earned the Humanitarian Award from the Yazoo Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, in 2015, he was awarded the Yazoo Homeowners Religious Award. An active member of his industry, Mr. Woodliff maintains affiliation with Mensa, the Gateway MAP Coalition, and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. In his spare time, he enjoys listening to music, watching movies, reading, traveling, and exercising. A talented martial artist, he is a black belt in karate. Looking toward the future, Mr. Woodliff is working on the revival of the church. While it may seem like an impossible goal, he knows it is his calling, and he is excited to see where life will take him.
